Florida’s largest island, Pine Island is Seventeen miles long and two miles wide. Home to many Mango and Palm Tree plantations, it also home to many bird species and is truly a rural laid back lifestyle. It includes the unincorporated communities of Bokeelia (to the north), Saint James City (to the south)Pineland, Pine Island Center, and often considered to include Matlacha (mat-la-shay), although Matlacha is actually an island unto itself.
Fishing and nature activities are two of the main attractions to Pine Island. There is a bike path the entire length of the island, grocery store, doctors, banks, golf course, library and many other services available right on the island.
Pine Island offers many residential communities to choose from-- gated, waterfront, acreages, condominium communities. Many of the residential communities have their own boat ramps but there are several public docks and marinas, which are also home to many commercial fishing charters and guides.
